Hyaenodon means 'Hyena Tooth,' but the two species aren't related. While hyenas are related to cats, Hyaendon is a creodont.

The Hyaenodon is such a powerful predator that it preys on other carnivores! A common meal is the Nimravid, or 'false saber-toothed cat!'

In the back of its mouth, the Hyaenodon has razor sharp teeth designed for slicing. This allowed it to cut its meat and digest faster!

Like a wolf, Hyaenodon tracked prey by scent. It could even idenify weak and sick animals by their smell!
