The Henodus has weak limbs. Because of this, it spends most of its life in the water, feeding on vegetation.
The Henodus, which resembles a turtle, is actually a placodont: an extinct type of marine reptile that includes plesiosaurs!
The Henodus’s shell is composed of many bones that form a mosaic pattern. This bony armor is fused to its spine.
Did you know that Henodus means ‘single tooth’? It gets its name from the single tooth located on either side of its mouth.
