While their names are similar, the Monolophosaurus is actually not closely related to the Dilophosaurus!

Monolophosaurus means 'single-crested lizard.' Its name comes from the protrusion on the top of its head.
Discovered in 1981, the fossils of the Monolophosaurus were found in Xinjiang China by a Canadian-Chinese expedition!
