Facts
The long thin snout of the Hauffiosaurus is rare amoung plesiosaurs.
The first Hauffiosaurus was discovered in the Posidonia shale formation in the 19th century.
Hauffiosaurus is classified as a medium sized plesiosaur, measuring about 11 feet (3.5 meters) long.
Though Hauffiosaurus was discovered almost 200 years ago, it was not recognized as a new species until 2001!
