Facts
The wingspan of the Cearadactylus is estimated to be between 4 and 5.5 meters. Since only the skull of the Cearadactylus has been discovered, the wingspan is estimated by comparing to other pterosaurs.
The Cearadactylus skull was eventually reconstructed properly, discovering that it had smaller teeth then previously thought, as well as a crest present on the snout.
The Cearadactylus fossil was not dug out by a dedicated research team, but was instead purchased from fossil dealers in Italy in 1983!
Several mistakes were made in the rebuilding of the Cearadactylus fossil, including mistaking the front of the lower jaw for the snout, and enlarging the teeth.
