This giant feathered friend is not a bird but a Gallimimus!

The name Gallimimus means "chicken mimic" but I think it looks rather like a duck!

Newbie keepers tend to find the toothless beak of Gallimimus rather unthreatening compared to the sharp teeth of other theropods... They start to show more respect once I remind them how well modern birds eviscerate their prey with their toothless beaks.

The feathers of a Gallimimus are remarkably similar to those of modern ostriches. Thankfully, they don't seem to have the same habit of displaying them to their keepers, as modern ostriches do.
