The Megalosaurus prefers coastal regions, hunting along the beaches for resting plesiosaurs and scavanging tidal pools filled with fish.
In 1677, Robert Plot described the first Megalosaurus fossil as a thighbone of a Roman war elephant or possibly a biblical giant!
Early reconstructions of Megalosaurus fossils depicted it as a quadraped, instead of a bi-pedal theropod!
