Facts
Meaning ‘biter lizard’, the Dakosaurus gets its name from its large, serrated teeth.
Most marine crocodiles ate a fish-based diet, but Dakosaurus’s skull and jaws indicate it was a predator of larger prey.
Spending most of its time at sea, the crocodilian Dakosaurus has developed flippers and a fluke-like tail.
Reaching upwards of 15 feet in length, the Dakosaurus is twice as long as Shaquille O’Neil is tall!
